Accountant II in Columbus, Ohio

          Apply principles of accounting to process various transactions, analyze financial information and prepare periodic management information reports.
 
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
 
Gathers, analyzes, compiles and summarizes project level transactions for accurate and timely recording in the company financial records.
Prepares accruals and general journal entries as appropriate.
Reconciles project level activity to the underlying documents to ensure transactions are consistent with the contract terms and conditions.
Reconciles project related balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis, including bank accounts.
Develops, manipulates and maintains complex accounting spreadsheets and assists in preparing monthly financial and operating reports.
Assists in the establishment and maintenance of accounting controls.
Assists in the periodic analysis of the variance between actual and planned operating results.
Independently and effectively works with Company operational staff and others to assure the proper and timely submission of a wide variety of accounting related materials.
Special projects as assigned by the Division Controller.
Other duties may be assigned.
 
Qualifications:
 
High school education or equivalent work experience. Bachelor?s degree or related business studies is preferred.
4+ years of General Accounting,or other relevant experience in a high-volume transaction environment.
Thorough understanding and application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal, organizational and customer service skills required.
Demonstrated analytical and computer skills. High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, working knowledge of Microsoft Access.
Demonstrated ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects/tasks in a changing environment.
Self motivated with ability to work under and meet strict deadlines individually as well as in a team environment.
Knowledge and understanding of internal control environment.
Ability to analyze financial information. Ability to work flexible hours as required.
SAP Experience or significant exposure to a major ERP application (i.e. SAP, Oracle, Lawson, PeopleSoft, etc.) a plus. Additionally, exposure to Infinium, MIS Office Plus, and/or MIS Application Studio is a plus.
